August DOTK

Lisa simply radiates the love and Spirit of her Father, the King. Her cool blue eyes and gorgeous smile make her a very photogenic DOTK, indeed.

Her parents are Assembly of God missionaries to Honduras and although she has always called Missouri her home, Lisa was actually born in South Texas during their training at Spanish language school.

Lisa has a special gift with kids and enjoys working in children’s ministries. After attending Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, she became a pre-school teacher.

In the Autumn of 2000, Lisa married and moved into the “married dorms” of Springfield’s rival Bible college with her new husband, Kyle. Her flare for design transformed an efficiency apartment into a stylish new home. With family roots that go back to Alabama and an abundance of artistic creativity, you might say she is a cross between the soft spoken Southern Belle and a kind of Holy Ghost Martha Stewart!

While her husband served his internship as youth pastor for a small Arkansas Baptist church, Lisa would work all week in Missouri and then drive almost two hours to share her weekends mentoring the girls in Kyle’s youth group. Never a nag, Lisa’s famous words to her husband are “It’s OK, Baby.”

Later Lisa taught “life skills” to developmentally challenged children in the College Station, Texas public school system. When husband Kyle took over the student ministries of Central Baptist Church in Tyler, Lisa welcomed the opportunity to redecorate their fourth home together. Lisa is both life partner and ministry partner with her husband.

Lisa is a nurturing young woman that comforts everyone around her. She really is sweetness and light and she is August’s featured Daughter Of The King.
